Department History

The Officials of Plainfield Township and the Boroughs of Pen Argyl and Wind Gap have a vision for a more efficient and effective delivery of police service to their communities.    The elected officials understand the complexity of police work and the need for a higher level of proficiency in the field.  Presently spanning over 27 square miles, the Slate Belt Regional Police Department operates a 24 hour, full time police department providing police coverage as well as a range of public services.  By combining the original three police departments, these communities realize a greater opportunity for consistency of police service, increased opportunities for supervision and training, increased accountability and decreased cost overall.

Chief Hoadley took over from founding Chief David Mettin on February 1, 2020.  Chief Hoadley began his career as a Pen Argyl Borough Officer and joined Slate Belt Regional upon it’s inception.
