2019 Citizen’s Police Academy

We are pleased to announce the Second Slate Belt Regional Police Department Citizen’s Police Academy.  The Slate Belt Regional Police Department Citizen’s Police Academy is designed to allow those in the community to experience the world of a Slate Belt Regional Police Officer.  Class sizes are purposefully kept small to encourage interaction with the students and officers.

Students will experience:

A tour of the Slate Belt Regional Police Department Headquarters

The Court System

Criminal Investigations by the PA State Police Forensics Unit

Use of Force

Traffic / DUI / Crash Investigations

A tour of the Monroe County Prison

A tour of the Northampton County 9-1-1 Center

Applications MUST be received by Friday, March 29th for consideration. Applications can be dropped off, faxed or mailed to:

Slate Belt Regional Police Department's Citizen Police Academy Application

Classes will run from Wednesday, April 17 through Wednesday, June 5, 2019, 6pm - 8:30pm.

A criminal records check will be completed for each applicant. Those who have been convicted of serious crimes will be excluded from the program. Please provide the following information.

By completing the form below, I grant permission to the Slate Belt Regional Police Department to conduct a confidential criminal records check to determine if I have been convicted of a disqualifying offense. The results of the records check are confidential information and will not be released to anyone except the Chief of Police. The Chief of Police will then destroy the records check results after his determination that I meet the criteria for class enrollment.

The Slate Belt Regional Police Department must receive this application by Friday, March 29, 2019. You will receive confirmation and further information upon acceptance into the Academy.
