Last evening Just before 4pm, a motorcyclist appears to have been travelling east on RT 22, past 25th Street, at a high rate of speed. He came upon eastbound traffic that was either stopped or slowing to stop, due to congestion as a result of a prior RT 33 accident Investigation.
The motorcyclist skidded, and lost control of his motorcycle, laying it down.
He along with his motorcycle, continued sliding on the roadway until the bike made impact with a box truck and he came to rest beneath a separate car.
The motorcyclist had severe injuries as a result. He was pronounced dead by the Northampton County Coroner’s Office at St Lukes Anderson.
He has been identified as:
59 year old, David Walton of the 1000 block of Railroad Avenue in Phillipsburg, New Jersey
Walton was riding a Blue colored 2008 Harley Davidson
There were no other injuries reported by any other motorists involved.
The Police Township Accident Reconstruction Team investigated this accident.
Route 22 eastbound was originally closed from Rt 33 to 13th Street, then from 25th to 13th Street, until the investigation was completed and Route 22 eastbound was reopened at 7:45 pm.
Palmer Municipal Fire Department, Suburban EMS and the Northampton County Coroner’s Office assisted.
