At approximately 12:41pm this afternoon, the Palmer Township Police Department was dispatched by Northampton County Control to the Husky Food Mart, located at 2210 Corriere Road.
A vehicle had been stolen approximately one minute earlier. County Control advised that the vehicle was a grey colored SUV displaying a Pennsylvania Registration. The Palmer Police were advised the female caller was struck with the vehicle and that her juvenile daughter was thrown out of the vehicle. County Control advised the vehicle fled on Corriere Road towards Tatamy Road.
Responding officers began searching the area for this stolen vehicle, as another made contact with the female victim. Victim reported that she entered the Husky Food Mart and left her vehicle running with the keys inside. Victim stated her eight-year-old daughter was inside the vehicle waiting.
Victim stated she walked into the Husky Mart, passing a young male in a black hooded sweatshirt and a mask, sitting outside of this store. Victim stated this male entered her vehicle through driver’s door. Victim observed her vehicle begin to reverse out of the parking spot. The victim stated her 8 year old daughter was in the back seat of the vehicle. The victim ran outside and attempted to grab onto the driver’s side door of her moving vehicle.
As the vehicle was attempting to get away, the victim’s daughter was in the back seat of the now locked vehicle. The victim’s daughter successfully unlocked her rear seat door, jumping out of the moving vehicle. The victim stated she let go of the car handle and due to the high rated speed of her vehicle as it fled the parking lot, struck her head on the pavement. The victim was transported to St. Luke’s Anderson for treatment.
The victim’s cell phone was left within the vehicle as it was stolen. The victim’s phone was tracked as the stolen vehicle fled the area.
Palmer Officer Gallas utilized this tracking to relay phone location information to Palmer Township and Colonial Regional Officers.
Both Palmer Township and Colonial Regional Officers were able to locate the stolen vehicle at the Easton Nazareth Highway and Hollo Road intersection. All involved officers attempted to stop the stolen vehicle with their emergency lights and sirens activated. The stolen vehicle failed to stop and a police pursuit ensued.
During this pursuit, Officer Pacchioli’s marked Palmer Township patrol vehicle was struck by the stolen vehicle. Officer Pacchioli was not injured, and able to continue in the pursuit.
The stolen vehicle eventually crashed on Bath Pike and Penn Dixie Road. Officers were able to apprehend the suspect. The suspect was not injured.
The suspect was identified as a 16-year-old juvenile male. The victim’s Capital One bank card and additional gift cards were located in the suspect’s pockets.
Once Identified, it was learned that this juvenile was involved in yesterday’s stolen vehicle pursuit from Easton into Monroe County, where he was taken into custody by the Pennsylvania State Police.
ALL investigations are continuing, the suspect juvenile is currently detained in the Northampton County Juvenile Detention Center.
