GIFT CARD SCAM - DON'T FALL FOR IT!
On Tuesday November 24, 2020 police took a report from a resident who reported being scammed out of $2000 in Target gift cards. A female phoned the victim and informed her that a car rented in her name was stolen, found crashed and that they found a substantial amount of narcotics and blood residue inside. A male then got on the phone and stated he was with the FBI and needed information to verify her identity and also that he was with the FBI. The male and female then informed the victim that she need to send them $2000 in Target gift cards or they would be coming from her. The female then purchased the Target gift cards and provided the card numbers over the phone to them.
Police want everyone to know that this is a common scam that is used with various types of gift cards DO NOT FALL FOR IT!
