On September 29, 2018 at 1842hrs police were dispatched to the 4200blk of Mathews Ave at the Steel City Park for a report of a male in a vehicle that pointed a gun at another person and two loud pops were heard. Upon police arriving the suspect and vehicle had left the area. Police obtained a registration of the vehicle and the 16 year old male driver from Hellertown was identified.
After speaking with the 16 year old male and his mother, it was learned that the male driver had discarded the gun which was a BB gun by throwing it out the window of the vehicle after he left the area. The gun was recovered by police and confirmed to be a BB gun pistol.
The 16 year old male was subsequently taken into custody and detained in the Northampton County Juvenile Detention facility on charges of Terroristic Threats and Disorderly Conduct.
