On April 27, 2024 between 10:00am and 2:00pm, the Lower Saucon Township Police Department will be hosting a collection site at the GIANT Food Store Pharmacy 1880 Leithsville Rd for the National Drug Take Back Day.
The National Drug Take Back Day Initiative provides an opportunity for the public to surrender expired, unwanted, or unused pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications to law enforcement officers for proper and safe destruction. This one-day effort is intended to bring national focus to the issue of pharmaceutical controlled substance abuse.
What type of medications can you submit at collection sites? Any over the counter, controlled substance or prescription required drugs can be submitted. Tablets, capsules, ointments, creams and liquids will be accepted in its packaging. No need to take medicines out of the original package or container. The public can submit it as is, no need to separate pills or medication in any form.
Vape Pens and E-Cigarette? Yes, from individual consumers ONLY after the batteries are removed from the devices.
What items will NOT be accepted at the collection sites? Sharps and syringes will NOT be accepted due to safety reasons.
Is this event anonymous? Yes, this event is absolutely anonymous and no questions are to be asked by law enforcement personnel to anyone submitting medications.
If you are unable to make it to the Drug Take Back Event there is a medication disposal receptacle in the foyer at police headquarters that is accessible 24hrs a day.
