On October 31, 2024, at 8:16 pm, a Forks Township police officer was working a DUI enforcement assignment and conducted a traffic stop in the area of Sullivan Trail and Zucksville Road. The officer made contact with the driver, who stated her driver's license was suspended. While speaking with the driver, identified as Jessica Turtzo, the officer detected an odor of alcoholic substance and burnt marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle. Turtzo admitted to consuming alcohol just prior to driving. A search of the vehicle yielded marijuana and paraphernalia. Turtzo's 5-year-old son was also found to be seated in the front passenger seat, without any booster seat or proper restraint system. Turtzo did perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and, as a result, was taken into custody for suspicious of DUI. Based on the results of a blood test, Turtzo was charged with (1 count) DUI: General Impairment - 4th Offense (F2), (1 count) DUI: High Rate of Alcohol - 4th Offense (F2), (1 count) DUI: Controlled Substance - 4th Offense (F2), (1 count) DUI: Controlled Substance Schedule I - 4th Offense (F2), (1 count) Endangering Welfare of Children (F3), (1 count) Possession or Distribution of a Small Amount of Marijuana (M), (1 count) Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (M), (1 count) Driving While BAC .02 or Greater While License Suspended DUI Related (S), (1 count) Restraint Systems - Child Booster Seat (S), and (1 count) General Lighting Requirements (S).
