On November 26, 2024, at approximately 8:10 pm, Forks Township police officers responded to the 2500 block of Bushkill Drive for a motor vehicle collision. Upon arrival, officers observed a damaged white van that had struck a mailbox. Officers spoke with the driver of the vehicle, Jarrid Sassaman, who admitted to striking the mail box while driving north on Bushkill Drive. While speaking with Sassaman, officers detected a strong odor of alcoholic substance emanating from his person and breath. Sassaman participated in Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and, as a result of the tests, was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI. A legal blood draw was taken at Northampton County DUI Center and later indicated Sassaman's BAC was 0.129%. Sassaman was charged by criminal complaint with (1 count) DUI: General Impairment (M), (1 count) DUI: High Rate of Alcohol (M) and (1 count) Careless Driving (S).
