On August 6, 2025, at approximately 6:22 pm, a Forks Township Police officer conducted a traffic stop in the 1400 block of Knox Avenue. The driver, identified as Troy Premus, had a suspended driver's license and appeared to be in an excited state, moving erratically and sweating profusely. Premus admitted to being a methamphetamine user and stated he last smoked methamphetamine the previous day. Premus agreed to participate in Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and showed signs of impairment indicative of a stimulant drug. Premus was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert, who confirmed Premus was impaired by a stimulant drug.
Premus agreed to submit to a legal blood draw at a Northampton County DUI Center, which indicated Premus had Methamphetamine and Amphetamine in his blood at the time of the traffic stop. Premus was charged by criminal complaint with (1 count) Driving Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance - Second Offense (M1), (1 count) Driving Under the Influence of Controlled Substance - Schedule II or III - Second Offense (M1), (1 count) Driving Under the Influence of Controlled Substance - Metabolite - Second Offense (M1), (1 count) Obedience to Traffic Control Devices (S), and (1 count) Driving While Operating Privilege is Suspended or Revoked (S).
