On Sunday June 2, 2019 at approximately 1:18 p.m., Palmer Township Police were dispatched to 510 Berks Street in the Township for a report of a domestic between a father and son, to which the son had assaulted the father.
Responding Officers arrived on scene to find the reported son had fled the Berks Street address and was reported returning back to his residence at 1010 Belmont Street, which is a residence in Williams Township, which borders south side Easton.
Investigating Officers arrived at 1010 Belmont Street and encountered the suspect, identified as Steven Vastola (27 y/o) at the residence at which time Vastola immediately began resisting Officers. During the struggle with Officers, one Palmer Township Officer was assaulted and required medical attention at an area hospital for injuries sustained during the struggle. That Officer was later released after treatment.
Steven Vastola was charged with felony aggravated assault on a Police Officer, Simple Assault, Resisting Arrest, and harassment. The incident is being investigated by The Palmer Township Police Department.
