On December 16, 2022, an FTPD officer responded to Weis Markets in Forks Township for a retail theft report. A loss prevention associate provided police with surveillance video and additional documentation regarding a suspect who had committed retail theft on seven separate occasions. Through the use of video surveillance and the suspect's Weis "club card", the suspect was identified as Kerri Talmadge. A detective interviewed Talmadge, where she admitted to using the self checkout kiosk to both under-scan items or leave items in her cart without scanning them. The total loss of merchandise to Weis Markets was $366.90. A check of Talmadge's criminal history revealed she had been convicted of retail theft twice previously. As this was Talmadge's third retail theft offense, regardless of the value of the merchandise, the violation constituted a felony of the third degree. Talmadge was charged by criminal complaint with (1 Count) Retail Theft - 3rd Offense (F3) and (1 Count) Receiving Stolen Property (M2).
