On January 31, 2023, Forks Township Police Department received a "PICS" firearm investigation from Pennsylvania State Police. The "PICS" check is a denial for an individual on a Pennsylvania State Police gun purchase application and an ATF form 4473, which is a record of sale for a firearm. Through investigation, it was determined that Cody Matlock, who was previously arrested for domestic violence and plead guilty to a subsequent harassment charge, attempted to purchase a firearm from Tech Ops International in Forks Township. When completing the Pennsylvania State Police form and ATF form 4473, Matlock checked "No" to questions related to certain convictions related to domestic violence. Both forms require a signature which specifically describes any false information provided is a penalty of law and Matlock did sign both forms. Matlock later admitted to completing both forms and acknowledged the previous guilty plea to a domestic violence related harassment charge. Matlock was charged by criminal complaint with (1 count) False Statement - Firearms Purchase - Under Penalty (M3).
