On January 7, 2023, at approximately 2:49 PM, a Forks Township police officer observed a vehicle with an expired registration in the area of Old Mill Road and Marigold Drive. The officer conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the sole occupant of the vehicle, Russell Jackson. While speaking with Jackson, the officer noted his slurred speech, red and blood shot eyes, and an odor of alcoholic beverage emanating from the vehicle. The officer also observed two empty beer cans in the rear seat and one opened beer can on the driver side floor board. Jackson was requested to exit the vehicle and performed Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFST's). Jackson displayed multiple signs of impairment. He was transported to St. Luke's Anderson Hospital for a legal blood draw. Jackson's blood was analyzed by Health Networks Laboratory and his blood alcohol content was .118. Jackson was charged by criminal complaint with (1 count) Driving Under the Influence - High Rate of Alcohol (M), (1 count) DUI: General Impairment (M), and (1 count) Restrictions on Alcoholic Beverages (S).
